San Lorenzo de Almagro basketball section is part of the San Lorenzo de Almagro sports club based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The club toured on Brazil (1957), Europe (1971) and Central America and the United States in 1974. San Lorenzo also played an exhibition game v. the Harlem Globetrotters at Estadio Luna Park in 1951. On April 26, 1985, San Lorenzo played the opening game of the recently created Liga Nacional de Basquetball, facing Argentino de Firmat at Obras Sanitarias venue.〔("Hace 30 años nacía la Liga Nacional de Básquetbol en Argentina" ), Telam, 26 Apr 2015〕 The basketball section of the club was inactive between 1986 and 1993, returning only at youth levels. In 1996 San Lorenzo's senior squad returned to first division tournaments of the city of Buenos Aires. Since then, the club won the U-22 championship (2004) and Copa De Oyarbide (2012).
